Eco installation for a beach resort: a holiday respectful of Nature
Talking about environmental sustainability at a sea resort thanks to an installation it was like a dream for us; we recovered the production scraps of two companies and designed our first educational, ecological and low-cost installation. To fix the wooden structure into the grounds without building foundations, we used the same hand drills that lifeguards use for anchoring sun umbrellas.
Eco installation for a beach resort: a dream to realize
The installation, consisting in a pergola and twelve didactic-explanatory boards, was designed and realized for the public launch of the “Bagnino Sostenibile” (sustainable sea resort) initiative, the first sustainable sea resort of the Province of Rimini, inspired by the forum “Agenda 21 Locale”The exhibition aimed at pointing out the sustainability values of the first experimental seaside resort (Bagno Giulia 85 in Riccione) that applied several methods for resources preservation, such as photovoltaic panels and water reuse.
Eco installation for a beach resort: our project and construction
The installation was designed to be sustainable and low-cost. Thin plates made of recycled aluminum and transparent plastic hung from the ceiling structure made of pine laminated wood. Graphics printed on ecological banner were fixed, through eyelet and ropes, on the twelve boards made of aluminum tubes.
The installation was thought to be completely removable and to be put back together easily, the jointed and screwed structure is anchored directly into the beach sand just like a sun umbrella. The boards were removed at the end of every day, since the to the upper part with the graphics, could be detached from the inferior one, fixed in the sand.
The structure allowed children and adults to get some relief from the sun under its colourful and constantly moving semi-shadow, allowing them to play, read or dream. Thus, they participated in a visual and sound performance, a different experience, more intimate and conscious, on how to enjoy the seaside.
